Below is a summary of Mike’s EHR activity during his ED visit. As a medical and health services manager, you are ultimately responsible for ensuring that Mike receives the best overall care possible. You will also compile Mike’s bills, consisting of his tests, procedures, room charges, supplies and medications. Using his EHRs, Virtual Physical Exam (VPE) and Internet research, answer the questions and be prepared to verify the responses with the rest of Mike’s health care team.

1. Use the blank copy of Mike’s ED and Inpatient bills and the Bill Reference to calculate and track his costs. In his EHRs, look for costs in the areas of labs, pathology, medications (be sure to pay attention to how many times during his stay each was administered) and diagnostics.
